His weight is down to 980grams and we are flying him across the room, I feed him 70grams of rabbit the last few nights , He has been launching himself before the whistle blows so back he goes to a utility step without a reward until the whistle blows. When he is down to around 900g we will go outside. The difference between response this year is chalk and cheese and i can understand why some people can get it wrong in there second year, its easy to be fulled we are ready and its time to go.
I traveled up to tulsa today on business i was amazed at the number of crows congregating along the highway. Crow could very much be on the hunting list this year Crow season is between.Oct. 10 - Nov. 16, 2011 and Dec. 9, 2011 - Mar. 4, 2012; statewide. We will be more than ready by October 10th. On my way up as usual the obligatory look out for passage Red-Tails. I saw one passage female and one hag just south of Okmulgee.
I stopped of at Atwoods in Madill on the way back somewhat curious. I found some stainless steal 3" rings for $3.50, Duly purchased i passed them on to the local fabricator to build me some block perches. If they work i'll get some more.
Ducks Unlimited have come with a few iphone apps for duck migration. Duck Apps. These could actually prove useful for watching the migration in full swing and for the longwingers, There is a report today for Edmond with Teal moving in. I'm sure Daniel and Ryan may find this useful.

Great to hear you’re getting your bird started in training. I’ll be very interested to hear your take on the performance of an intermewed redtail. Everything I’ve read states a second year bird really has the game down.
My bird’s flying on creance like a champ & would be more than ready to be cut loose if he’d only wed to the lure. He hasn’t quite made the connection that lure coming out = big meal/happy bird.
Anyhow, keep the updates coming & best of luck to you!

I had a simualr problem with one of my birds make him step up to the lure and feed of it. Some birds seem to be inimidated by the lure
