With all good things comes the hangover. Willow was over weight she had to shift 100 grams of rabbit the night was mild so that wasn't going to happen. Its at times like that you immediately start to wish you was allowed a second bird but it was my fault entirely for allowing her to feed up so well. I also had battery problems on the truck so the evening session was a no go. I feed her 10 grams of rabbit hopefully she will be ready to go. Forecast is in the 60F-70F temperature rain, it;s drizzling and miserable, I'm thinking prospect hunting tonight in a wooded area near my daughters day care center
Fridays forecast is a 50% chance of thunderstorms in the morning, I'm hoping for a good squirrel hunt in the afternoon.
Out of interest i got a Trail/Scout Camera for Christmas from
Wild Game Innovations. I'm testing it out in the mews right now so far the batteries have lasted 6 days. I'll write more once i have tested it for a bit. The cost $45 from walmart at the moment so my view point was if it was crap i wouldn't loose too much.

So I have a question to better understand what's going on here.
I'm assuming that the birds need to be kept at a certain weight so they hunt. Is that the case? And I am also wondering what "shifting" is when it comes to the 100 grams of rabbit?
Thanks for any info. I'm finding this all fascinating!
You are totally correct! Willows weight range is 1010 - 1030 grams, either side of that and she becomes none responsive. When we feed them we note how much they have eaten then its a case of how long does it take for them to process that amount of food and be back to hunting weight for the next day. This is known as Rate or Loss or ROL. Different food types are richer and produce more calories and fat. Basically I am aiming to get her in her weight range for the next day, weather and temperature also have allot to do it with it, she will burn off more calories if its colder than if its warm. It's a totally balancing game
Steve,
How is that camera working out?
Bill
Hi Bill the Batteries appear to last a week, I have it in the Muse right now going to camouflage it up and then find a good spot in the wild after the 15th when deer season is over. I was looking to see if I could find a solar panel for it but they seem quite expensive so I’ll stick with batteries for now.
